About Havoptic

Havoptic is an independent release tracker for AI coding tools, built and maintained by Scott Havird. The site aggregates version updates, changelogs, and new features from seven leading AI-powered development assistants into a single, queryable timeline.

Mission

AI coding tools are shipping faster than any individual developer can follow. Havoptic closes that gap by collecting every release across the ecosystem, normalising version and feature data, and publishing it as a free, open, daily-updated dataset. The goal is to make AI coding tool evolution transparent, comparable, and easy to cite.

How the content is produced

Release data is fetched automatically from upstream changelogs via GitHub Actions pipelines and re-checked daily. Every release on Havoptic links back to its upstream source. Longer-form analysis (weekly digests, monthly comparisons, tool deep-dives) is drafted with AI assistance and reviewed by Scott Havird before publication. See the methodology page for per-tool sources, fetch cadence, and correction policy.

Data license

All release data and the feature matrix are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. Programmatic access is available at /api-docs.
