Claude Code adds gateway cost reports and failure-blocking Agent SDK hooks

So far in November 2026, Claude Code has shipped one release, v2.1.317, which adds cost reporting for gateway admins, stricter Agent SDK hooks and several new safety prompts.

On the admin side, the Claude apps gateway admin API gains GET /v1/organizations/analytics/cost, which reports past spend over a date range in total, per developer, per day or per IdP group. Gateways with admin set also keep a daily record of each developer's IdP groups for admin.identityretentiondays. Agent SDK hook callbacks accept onFailure: "block", so a failing callback blocks the action instead of letting it run. New prompts include a warning from /schedule when a cloud scheduled task gets unrequested connectors, and a check before a web or shell tool call sends your account email address to the network. OTel metrics, events and spans also gain anthropic.plan, anthropic.seattype, anthropic.provider and anthropic.custombaseurl. The release also includes fixes, among them project and local MCP servers disconnecting after the first turn in some Claude desktop sessions.
