AI Coding Tools Digest — Week 41, 2026 (Oct 5–11)
TL;DR 🎯
This Week's Releases
Antigravity CLI — 5 releases (v1.2.17 → v1.3.3)
A busy patch cycle. The headline: pinned conversation prompts so you can scroll back without losing your place, plus a proper plugin marketplace with auto-setup forms. macOS security defaults also got tightened. Plugin authors get easier tooling for declaring tools at load time.
OpenAI Codex CLI — 4 releases (v0.160.1 → v0.162.1)
Clickable URLs, pinnable tasks, and Git worktree management landed in v0.162.0 (see Highlight below). v0.162.1 immediately patched a critical multi-line input crash and fixed startup failures from feature flag mismatches. Ship fast, patch faster.
Claude Code — 7 releases (v2.1.290 → v2.1.296) 🏆
The week's busiest tool. Key additions across the run: hooks that can now block actions on failure, terminal status updates showing live activity, synced settings between Claude Desktop and the gateway, and new controls for window compaction and subagent model selection. Rate limit handling also got smarter.
GitHub Copilot CLI — 4 releases (v1.0.92 → v1.0.95)
Faster AI model options in v1.0.94, plus you can now preview exact commands before approving them — a small UX win with real trust implications. v1.0.95 tightened macOS auth reliability and gave you more control over session context.
Gemini CLI — 1 release (v0.63.0)
Steady-as-she-goes update. Better connection recovery feedback, smarter error messages, and memory optimizations for long-running sessions. No fireworks, just fewer crashes.
Cursor — 1 release (v2026.10.06)
The one that'll get people talking: monitor and control local agents from your iPhone. Everything stays on your machine; you just get a remote window into it. Early days, but the direction is clear.
Grok Build — 1 release (v1.0.50)
Prevents accidental deletion of active worktrees (finally), and adds adaptive display modes that handle long branch names and tall terminals gracefully.
Kiro CLI — 1 release (v3.0.0)
Major version, major move. Built-in migration from Classic removes the biggest adoption blocker. V3 also delivers better hook organization and a noticeable speed bump on longer conversations.
Highlight Deep Dive 🔍
OpenAI Codex CLI rust-v0.162.0 quietly shipped one of the more thoughtful UX updates in recent memory. Clickable URLs sound trivial until you realize how much context-switching they eliminate — no more copying strings out of a terminal. More substantively, pinnable tasks let you keep priority work visible across sessions, and native Git worktree support means you can juggle multiple branches from inside the CLI without external tooling. Transcript navigation improvements round it out. It's the kind of release that doesn't have a marquee feature but makes the tool feel noticeably more professional end-to-end.
